We all know someone who’s a little rough around the edges—and whose space has turned into a maze of narrow paths through their things.
They know where everything is.
They know what they have.
They just can’t get to it anymore.
That was the case here.
Instead of starting with the mess, I started with a question:
“What do you want this space to be used for?”
After a long pause, this 78-year-old looked at me and said,
“I’d like to do my woodworking projects in here.”
“Awesome,” I replied.
“Tell me how you’d like your woodworking tools set up.”
That conversation lasted about 45 minutes.
We talked through how he actually works, which tools belong together, what he wanted to sell, and—most importantly—what he didn’t want to throw away. This wasn’t about forcing minimalism. It was about restoring access, safety, and purpose.
We consolidated like items, cleared pathways, and organized the space around how he wanted to use it—not how someone else thought it should look.
The result wasn’t just a cleaner workshop.
It was a space that invited creativity again.
If you’re ready to embark on your own organizing journey—and want someone who listens first—I’d be glad to help.
Give Mr. Clear a call, and let’s talk about what you want your space to do for you.
